Dongle Security Device Setup

Overview

This document will cover setting up the two factor authentication and signing on for the first time as well as general use.

Assumptions

We will assume throughout this article that the user either has the two factor authentication key plugged into the computer or plugged into the USB dongle that is plugged into the computer.

Terms:

Dongle: Two factor authentication key. The small key you plug into either the computer or the USB extender used to log into the system.

USB Hub/Extender: The usb hub that plugs into the computer or laptop that you can insert the two factor auth key into.

General Concepts

Set Up

• Be sure the dongle is either plugged into the computer or laptop, or plugged into the USB hub and that the usb hub is plugged into the laptop or computer.

  • If the USB port in the computer or laptop is easily reached from your station, you can plug the dongle directly into the computer or laptop.

  • If the USB port on the computer or laptop is hard to reach from your station (for example, under the desk) you can plug the usb hub with a long cord into the computer or laptop and place the hub in an easy to reach place in your station.

• Enter your login credentials for Savance Enterprise.

  • *your username*@savanceenterprise.com

• Enter a valid cell phone number that can receive a text message for initial set up.

• On the left, select ‘Security Info’, then in the middle click Add Sign-In Method

• In the drop down, select Security Key and then click Add.

• Click Next.

• Click Next.

• If this is the first time you login in with a new user, fill in this screen. Then click next.

• Enter the verification code that was sent to the phone #, then click Verify.

• Once the screen confirms verification, click Done.

• Choose USB Device

• Read the next screen and then click Next.

• Wait until the following screen close

• When this confirmation screen appears, click ok.

• Click OK.

• Follow the prompt to enter the dongle into the USB port.

  • Either in the computer/laptop or in the hub/extender.

• Create a PIN for the security key. When ready, click ok.

• When prompted, touch the dongle.

• Name the dongle then click next.

• This confirmation screen will appear, when ready, click done.

• This will bring you back to the Security Info screen. Notice the dongle/key you just set up is listed.

• The process to set up a new security dongle is complete!

Logging In Using a Dongle

• Access the remote desktop.

• If you are not already subscribed to your Savance Enterprise machine click Subscribe.

• Log in with your Savance Enterprise credentials

• Click “Use a security key.”

• Enter the PIN and click ok

• Touch the dongle. This will take a few seconds to load.

• Your Savance Enterprise icon will appear, you may click on it to enter Savance and begin your work.

Change PIN or Forgot PIN

If you forgot your Pin code or want to change it, you can follow these steps.

• Access the Start Menu on your computer

• You can start typing in the search bar “sign in options” or find it in the settings.

• Click Sign In Options once it appears.

• Click manage

• Touch the dongle.

• If you want to change the PIN choose the first option. This will prompt you to enter the current PIN and create a new one.

• If you forgot the PIN and want to reset the dongle, choose the second option.

• Click change PIN, if you still know the current one and just want a different PIN.

• Click Reset if you do not remember the PIN and need to re-set up the dongle.

• If you’re sure, click Proceed.

• Once reset, repeat the set up steps to set up the dongle again with a new pin code.
